Before we run through some of the best used motorhomes or new motorhomes that come in at under 3,500kg – which you can find available at Continental – here’s a little reminder of what the attraction is with vehicles of this size and weight. For a start motorhomes under 3,500kg are usually relatively compact – and therefore easily manoeuvrable for almost every driver. The smaller nature and lighter weight of this class of vehicles makes them ideal for first-timers or couples. We’d always advise some shorter runs to get yourself used to the particular feel and driver handling of your new motorhome, even though it’s under 3,500kg, but in theory you could drive her straight off the forecourt and set off on a short break or holiday! That’s because the other main talking point is that you don’t need to undergo additional testing to achieve a new classification to be able to drive them. Motorhomes under 3,500kg can be driven on a standard cat B UK driving licence – making them the ultimate in ‘get in and go’ vehicles (provided you’ve already sorted out the tax and insurance papers, of course).
