A C1 licence is a UK driving licence classification which it required to drive vehicles (including motorhomes) which weigh between 3,500 kg and 7,500 kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM). In simpler terms, if your motorhome exceeds 3.5 tonnes, you legally need a C1 licence to drive it. Those who passed their test before January 1997 may automatically have this entitlement but new drivers must pass a separate test.
Yes, it is. Levelling ensures stability, proper function of appliances (fridge, gas heaters etc), and offers comfort while parked up, preventing movement during sleep or cooking. Uneven surfaces can cause water drainage issues and even damage to plumbing. Many motorhomes come with built-in levelling aids, or you can use manual ramps and blocks. Some newer models have automatic self-levelling systems. Check the specifications of the motorhome model you’re interested in.
Technically yes. But motorhomes are not really designed for everyday domestic use due to their size, fuel consumption and manoeuvrability. Frequent use can increase wear and tear and fuel costs – motorhomes are best suited for leisure travel. If you are looking for a vehicle for regular daily use, a smaller campervan is more practical.
